Otaru Beer was begun in 1995 in the Otaru Soko #1 Warehouse by Mr. Akio Shoji.  Otaru Beer was always built with the idea of bringing German Beer Culture to Japan.  With this in mind we began brewing beer according to the Reinheitsgebot using very traditional brewing methods similar to the ones used two-hundred years ago or more.  Johannes Braun's family has a long tradition of brewing in Germany with recipes dating back over two-hundred years.  This is the base upon which Otaru Beer has been built.
